- Robert Varga CDNs have been around for a long time - standardized in , as is the problem of an application performing resource selection based on network-based "closeness". An example is Application-Level Traffic Optimization and the RFCs produced at IETF (https://datatracker.ietf.org/wg/alto/documents/). Attempts with APIs have not gotten as much traction. The API piece may need to be revisited
