An AMA session centered around the LFX tool suite

Topic Overview

Many of you are aware of the metrics and reporting side of the Linux Foundation's LFX collaboration platform, but there is more to it than just that.  This includes things like code security tracking and meeting management.  In this AMA session you can get the questions you may have about using LFX answered.

ADD YOUR QUESTIONS HERE:

  1. How can I see the 11th organization contributing to a project on LFX Insights→Technical contributions→Organizations ? It only shows the top-10 (submitter - Ranny Haiby )
A: Doing a better job of this is important
  2. For me, who is based in India, I'm unable to change the Timezone to schedule a meeting. it shows local timezone.. and doesn't allow me to change it
A: WIP to provide that functionality - currently all UTC, understood as a need.
Heather Kirksey : request the priority gets bumped up
Dave Wallace : most meetings are anchored to a local timezone so the 2 weeks ate either end of the the  time change is highly disruptive.
  3. Roadmap for the ability of community members to be granted delegation of responsibility Kenny Paul
A:  Also work in progress - unsure when targeted. Will provide the feedback
  4. Within LFx Insights, Dataset available seems changing or getting limited often (maybe due to storage/compute capacity). Is it true? Ken KANISHIMA
A- performance is the primary issue

09:42:56     From  Sridhar Rao : For me, who is based in India, I'm unable to change the Timezone to schedule a meeting.
09:43:31     From  Sridhar Rao : it shows local timezone.. and doesn't allow me to change it
09:43:55     From  Sridhar Rao : Thanks.
09:58:19     From  Ken Kanishima : Within LFx Insights, Dataset available seems chainging or getting limited often (maybe due to storage/compute capacity). Is it true?
10:01:57     From  Taylor Carpenter : If I am understanding this is similar to https://devstats.cncf.io/.  Has that been looked at?  It’s used by CDF and other groups including the CNCF projects.   Code here https://github.com/cncf/devstatscode#devstats-code
10:03:03     From  Timo Perala (Nokia) : Thanks for good discussion, have to jump to the next one. See you tomorrow!
10:04:28     From  Heather Kirksey (LFN) : @taylor, I don't know all the nuances, but I do believe that the CNCF code was adopted into the core of the LF product code
10:05:40     From  Ken Kanishima : Due to the Perfornance/Compute  capacity. Got it.
10:05:47     From  Asitha De Silva : Reacted to "Due to the Perfornan..." with thumbs-up
10:07:08     From  Taylor Carpenter : What is show cased vs what is available is something that I have seen in the cncf devstats and other communities again and again.  Iirc the data is there and it’s showing people how filtering works. For show casing it relates to publicly communicated reasons such as graduated projects with cncf or rotating showcased projects/companies for others.
10:07:38     From  Taylor Carpenter : The performance items are also a common topic.  What is cached, what is dynamic, etc.
10:09:02     From  Taylor Carpenter : While the CNCF landscape page https://landscape.cncf.io/ can thought of as a hells scape to many they have had to deal with performance that seems similar to the insights page for lfx.

Looking at what these other projects are doing is a good idea.
10:12:02     From  Taylor Carpenter : One path is “nightly” generation of computed data for performance and a non-main site / area for dynamically created insights/filters.

As far as what to pre-generate… I don’t know.  I hear the politics from Heather and there is information the community will be interested in seeing that needs to be considered.
10:16:21     From  Kenny PAUL (LFN) : Thanks for that Taylor
10:16:55     From  Henry Quaye : Thank you Taylor
10:18:24     From  Asitha De Silva : Thank you Taylor — I’ve noted down your comments and will be passing it along to the PM of Insights and Nirav
10:20:49     From  Asitha De Silva : PCC Office Hours Meetings: https://zoom-lfx.platform.linuxfoundation.org/meeting/92037918231?password=2d496ba6-2b67-487d-af51-78922f2e8de5
10:21:18     From  Kenny PAUL (LFN) : is that available to non staff members? ^^
10:21:50     From  Heather Kirksey (LFN) : This feels a bit non-transparent from an open- source point of view
10:22:06     From  Taylor Carpenter : Reacted to "Thank you Taylor — I..." with thumbs-up
10:22:39     From  Henry Quaye : https://portal.productboard.com/bqt1cgergoszsqheudb7leux/tabs/1-under-consideration
10:24:21     From  Ken Kanishima : Thanks for this session.
10:24:25     From  Taylor Carpenter : Good info on LFX. Thank you
10:24:36     From  Kenny PAUL (LFN) : good night Ken!
10:24:47     From  Kenny PAUL (LFN) : bye Taylor
