As a Board Representative nominee, I want to strengthen LFNs core values – teamwork, inclusion and innovation.
I believe that open networking projects are a cornerstone for internet transparency and openness. In this open world, even small companies can make a huge impact and bring enormous value for the community. Thank you for your consideration.

Sebastian Scheele

  • Kubermatic

Sebastian Scheele is co-founder of Kubermatic, a start-up with 60 employees that is the #7 committer to Kubernetes and that is focused on developing open core software solutions for automating Kubernetes operations at scale. Sebastian, a developer himself, has his finger on the pulse of where the Kubernetes landscape is going and is contributing many of his team's resources to upstream K8s development. As one of the early pioneers in the cloud native ecosystem since 2016,  he has helped dozens of telecoms and hundreds of enterprises embrace Kubernetes to solve cutting edge challenges in both cloud and edge computing.

Currently, small companies are not represented on the LF Networking Governing Board and the largest companies make all the top level decisions for LF Networking. The company that I co-founded and lead, Kubermatic, is a startup just like over 50% of the 70+ LF Networking silver members who are small companies. Kubermatic has been one of the earliest members of both LF Networking and CNCF. I have worked with dozens of telcos and understands their unique requirements and how they will impact a successful transition to cloud native. Recently elected to CNCF governing board, I would serve on LF Networking’s governing board to accelerate LF Networking’s projects such as ONAP to cloud native.
Even though Kubermatic is a startup, we are one of the most active upstream contributors of all members in the largest project at the LF: CNCF’s Kubernetes, currently ranking number 7 of commits. We have 60 employees that are focused on developing open source software solutions for automating Kubernetes operations at scale.

Kubermatic helped guide OVP Phase 2 which is focused on adding Cloud Native Function support to OVP, now Anuket. At KubeCon 2019 in November, Kubermatic was central to the Cloud Native 5G demo & keynote.
It’s time that small companies in our community have a direct voice on the LF Networking governing board. I would be honored to be your representative.
I thank you all for your time and consideration. Please feel free to schedule a 1:1 in case you’d like to connect and discuss.
